Instrucciones
TIM Arte Contemporáneo
Santiago, Chile

The project Instructions is set within my investigations into consumer society and visual capitalism. The focus is on the proliferation of images of my algorithm and archival material, which allude to the fashion, beauty and wellness industries.

Taken together, the works in this exhibition present a fragmented account of personal interests, everyday observations, fortuitous and forced digital encounters, as well as reflections on archetypes in art history and femininity.

One of the objectives of this project, in addition to deepening the imaginary of my work, has been to experiment with new ways of presenting and mounting the work, giving a new context to the gallery space and to the work itself. In Instructions, paintings and digital prints are combined from a new spatiality that references concept store furnishing (such as hangers, shelves, lightboxes), with the aim of opening paths to future material and conceptual processes.

Art Paris

For Art Paris’ twenty-fifth anniversary, AMS Galería is honored to participate for the first time showing works by Chilean painters Ricardo Maffei (b. 1953, Santiago) and Dominique Bradbury (b. 1988, London). The show brings together artists from two different generations who provide their own interpretation about the art of absorbing photography’s simulacra back into painting.

Dominique Bradbury’s work turns to photography’s lens-like ability to capture fleeting moments of light and color, and to convey both the brightness and brevity of youth. The artist’s luminous palette and rhythmic energy of line combine with realism to create paintings about contemporary life. Her narrative structures are based on the contemporary mediation of images, offering an added value—of fiction and strangeness—to signifieds already ex - isting in the media used. In their modest scale, tightly cropped composition, the paintings convey a sense of intimacy, depth and poignancy.

Group show

Benjamin Edwards & Dominique Bradbury

The exhibition by the artists Benjamín Edwards (1985) and Dominique Bradbury (1988) consists of a pictorial installation of about 30 oil paintings on canvas, of medium and small format, displayed on a black wall of 4 x 8 m; whose distribution forms a sort of storyboard or Atlas Mnemosyne composed of apparently unconnected images.
The title of the exhibition -
Error of continuity- corresponds to an expression recovered from the field of cinema and television, where it is used
to refer to flaws in the sequence of a fiction, which affect its internal coherence and break the illusion of reality. In this case, these "mistakes" are re-signified and converted into a power, since, in the end, what the artists question is the narrative capacity of painting.
While retaining their individualities, the canvases by Edwards and Bradbury articulate a coherent whole, since they share certain plastic concerns as well as an attachment to figuration and the resignification of the still life genre, which they approach from the logic of mass culture. From fragmentary views of human bodies, objects, flowers, etc., the artists weave a story that makes the accident its decisive element.
